About John Pearson
JOHN PEARSON is a Twin Cities native and graduate of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (1975) where he studied graphic design, photography and drawing, with courses in intaglio printmaking under Tom Egerman. While a student at the college he won an award of merit in the Van Derlip drawing competition and was part of a group show of drawings at the Jewish Community Center in St. Louis Park.
Pearson’s work led him to northwestern Minnesota where he created a series of soft sculpture and stuffed animals for Lady Slipper Designs, a non-profit cottage industry. When he returned to Minneapolis-St. Paul he worked as a graphic designer, typographer, and art director.
In recent years Pearson has renewed his interest in visual arts, first through photography and then through painting and printmaking. He joined the Highpoint Printmaking Cooperative in May, 2004 where he has shown regularly. He has photos and prints in business and private collections around the Twin Cities, and his 70s soft sculpture is in the collection of the Minnesota Historical Society where a series of his photos of prairie images hangs in Cafe Minnesota. In March, 2009 Pearson was a judge for the Uptown Art Fair.
Pearson presently has prints available for sale at the Swan Song Gallery in Maiden Rock, WI.
